OPEN-AIR FINE ARTS WORKSHOP IN THE TOWN OF ELENA

From September 25 to 28, 2025, An open-air fine arts workshop was held in Elena as part of the activities related to the sustainability of the joint project “Culture in Eternity” of the municipalities of Elena and Medgidia, funded under the cross-border cooperation program “Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014–2020.”

At this year’s event, representing the municipality of Medgidia, Romania, were artists Mihaela Leonte, Dorina Ilieșcu, Monica Moldoveanu, and Gönül Ismail, under the guidance of their mentor, Mircea Costea.

On September 26, 2025, at the Community Center, talented children from Elena painted under the guidance and with the help of the Romanian artists, recreating in their own style one of the seven monuments in the city of Elena of national importance—the Clock Tower. The children’s smiles and the question asked immediately after the event ended—“When will we draw again?”—demonstrated the young talents’ desire to prove their potential in the future, as well as the need for such events. Happy and inspired, the students went home with certificates and prizes for the courage they had shown.

On September 27, 2025, also at the Community Center, a relaxing and creative evening took place, where wine and colors blended in a friendly atmosphere. Fifteen art and wine enthusiasts painted alongside the team of artists from Medgidia, Romania, led by Mircea Costea.

The painting session titled “Art and Wine,” accompanied by a glass of rosé wine from a local winery, turned into a two-hour artistic experience. Under the guidance of the Romanian team, each participant created a painting using acrylic paints. Participants were introduced to various painting techniques. They enjoyed a warm atmosphere, chatted with other participants, and shared ideas. All necessary materials were provided by the organizers. The event gave participants the opportunity to learn new painting techniques, experiment with creative ideas, and enjoy a first-class wine.

Finally, this year’s outdoor painting workshop concluded with a presentation of the works created between September 25 and 28, 2025, which, for yet another year, were donated to the Elena City Hall to enrich the city’s art gallery collection.
