The main objective of the project Apostille-423 -“culture in eternity” Apostille “improving the sustainable use of cultural heritage and promoting cultural tourism between partners in the cross-border region”. Proceeding from it and within the framework of the activities set for implementation, a joint strategy was created for preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and promotion of cultural tourism in the municipalities of Elena, Bulgaria and Medgidia, Romania.
The main objective of the joint strategy is to create a basis for the development of cultural tourism and to improve the attractiveness of the territories of the project partners – Elena municipality, Bulgaria and Medgidia municipality, Romania.
Based on analyses of the current state of the preserved cultural heritage in the territory of the two municipalities, a good basis for sustainable and balanced development of the cultural heritage in the long term was created.
The strategy identifies sites and events that are suitable for joint development, as well as their inclusion in tourist packages and a web – based platform for presentation and promotion of cultural heritage in the cross-border region Elena-Medjidia.
The relevant programme documents at national, regional, regional and municipal level, in accordance with the specific resource potential of the two municipalities, as well as the applicable European documents, have been taken into account.
The main tasks and activities carried out in order to achieve the objectives of the project are:: Analysis of the historical and geographical development of the two municipalities-features in spatial development; Analysis of the regional characteristics of the two regions/municipalities; Spatial distribution of the existing cultural sites in the two municipalities and description of their status; Identify the objects and events that are suitable for joint development and determine the steps of action; Analysis of cultural heritage.
